Anxiety. The feeling of being inadequate and abnormal. In a society that celebrates the simple and cheerful, there is rarely room for melancholy and introversion.
Invocation of my demon brother is The Saigon Sickness tribute to the deviant. Emotions that everyone experiences but few recognize. The lyrics are written with a knot in the stomach and the music during countless unpleasant rehearsal processes. The focus is always on the melody. No hype and no need to chock, just clean, straight melodies designed to connect with the listener.
The record can be seen both as a closing and a fresh start. Compositions that has been destroyed, polished and redesigned during nearly 10 years in dirty rehearsal rooms, from Dalecarlias’ most obscure corners to anonymous industrial premises in Stockholm, intermingled with newer material that shows the way for the bands’ future development.
There is no need to hide that Invocation of my demon brothers is a sad creation. However, it’s in the melancholy you’ll find the truly beautiful. The definition of good music is, after all, about communicating real emotions. And the reality is not always easy.

Biography

Voyager (later Voyagerband) was formed in late ‘96 as a part of the “stoner-rock” movement. We managed to release one EP in ‘99 “Four bastards trying to sort things out” which was picked up by Meteor City Records as a part of the old “single of the month club”. Later on we got a lousy record deal and released an album in ‘01 “Dead tunes for the unwanted”. Then things got slow. Fucked up label, lack of inspiration, moving to different cities, I guess you call it life.
We went into a coma.
Rebirth in ‘05. As a three-piece we named ourselves The Saigon Sickness and started to write again, all new sounds and emotions. We wanted to make it right this time and after a couple of demos we hooked up with our old friend Mattias Finn (Producer/guitars), built a studio in my parents house in June ‘07 and did our best recording to date.
The songs we recorded that summer would be the first part of this record. Since the collaboration with Finn worked amazingly well, we simply continued the session in 2008. Invocation of my demon brothers is the result.
